Project Overview
The Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences and Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana have jointly developed the project „Nurturing a Culture of Excellence in University Management through Leadership Development and Partnerships“. This training and professional development project in university management is part of the “Dialogue on Innovative Higher Education Strategies“ (DIES) programme, which is initiated by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) for a period from 1st January 2020 – 31st December 2023.
The key objective of the project is to support participating universities (Universitas Kristen Duta Wacana in Yogyakarta, Universitas Kristen Wira Wacana in Sumba, Universitas Halmahera in Maluku, and Universitas Ottow Geissler in Papua) to improve their educational and management quality standard in the university landscape in Indonesia.

Strategic expansion of the Indonesia country focus at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences to build sustainable Indonesia expertise among students, doctoral candidates, and academic staff, and to strengthen the university’s international profile within the DAAD UAS.International framework.

- Strengthening intercultural and international competencies for mobile and non-mobile students
- Supporting internationalized teaching, research, and transfer
- Contributing to regional development through globally qualified graduates
- Embedding internationalization as a cross-cutting institutional priority (teaching, research, societal engagement)
Specific Project Goals
- International Study Programs:
Development of practice-oriented, international study programs (incl. mobility windows, digital formats, and double-degree options) - Strategic Partnerships & Networks:
Expansion and consolidation of long-term strategic partnerships with Indonesian and international academic and practice partners - Mobility & Exchange:
Increased student, staff, and research mobility between Germany and Indonesia (study, practice, research, excursions) - Research & Doctoral Cooperation:
Establishment of a joint doctoral program, strengthening research capacity and international recruitment for HAW professorships - Sustainability & SDGs:
Targeted contribution to SDGs 4, 8, 11, 12, and 14 through sustainability-focused teaching and research partnerships
