Admission requirements

According to § 18 Para. 5 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG), a prerequisite for admission to the degree program is special artistic aptitude.

This special artistic aptitude is demonstrated by passing an aptitude test. If a university entrance qualification according to § 18 Para. 1 Sentence 2 NHG is not proven, outstanding artistic aptitude must be proven (§ 18 Para. 5 Sentence 1 NHG). Outstanding artistic aptitude is considered to be a grade average of 1.0 to 1.3.

The “Regulations on the Proof of Special Artistic Aptitude and Selection for the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Theater Pedagogy” are available in the official gazette and can be found here:

Examination of special artistic aptitude (aptitude test)

Special artistic aptitude is demonstrated by passing an aptitude test. If a university entrance qualification according to § 18 Para. 1 Sentence 2 NHG is not proven, outstanding artistic aptitude must be proven (§ 18 Para. 5 Sentence 1 NHG).

Admission to the degree program is restricted. The aptitude test consists of several partial examinations, the results of which are combined into a final grade. Based on the final grades, a ranking is determined according to which the 18 available admission spots are awarded annually.

The aptitude test generally takes place (on one day) at the end of the semester at the Institute for Theater Pedagogy in Lingen. For the application procedure for the start of studies in the winter semester, the aptitude test for applicants will take place in calendar week 26. The exact day will be communicated to applicants via email by the Office of the Institute for Theater Pedagogy well in advance, after the application deadline.

The aptitude test takes place all day at the Institute for Theater Pedagogy – at the Lingen location.
