Germany scholarship program ("Deutschlandstipendium")
Under the Germany Scholarships program German universities engage in fundraising to sponsor their own students. The universities are to find businesses and institutions as sponsors and the federal government matches their contributions. The Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences successfully participates in the program since 2011 and is one of Germany's most successful university at fund raising for Germany scholarships from companies, foundations, institutions and private individuals.
It offers many of its students the opportunity to receive financial (3,600 euros/year) and intellectual support (for instance through internships, mentoring programs) from their respective funders. Many of our sponsors also support Germany Scholarship holders through concurrent mentoring programmes, networking events and internships. Every student can apply several years in a row.
Application information
In order to apply for the program, you must be enrolled at our university on September 1st. It is not required to be enrolled at the date of your application. Please contact the Center for International Students for more information about deadlines, etc.
In addition to academic achievement, the criteria for selecting scholarship recipients include social commitment and personal achievements, such as a student overcoming challenges or obstacles in his or her social or family background.
The Germany scholarship is 300 euros monthly, granted for an initial period of one year. It is not offset against BAföG payments or the student's own earnings.
Potential students and students of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences who are enrolled at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences on September 1st of the year of the award can apply who achieve above average grades and/or are engaged in volunteer work – for instance at the university, in parties, associations, groups, religious communities or charitable organizations. Therefore it is advisable to be able to demonstrate some sort of social engagement or charity work. Any special needs should also be described in the application. This year, applicant need and financial situation will be particularly taken into account when awarding open scholarships.
Please note that a separate motivation letter is not required. Likewise, no certification of verifications or credentials is required. Furthermore, verifications of volunteer positions or further personal information are not required. The university reserves the right to request original copies in some instances. Furthermore, the university reserves the right to review non-verified information (in particular on volunteer work) if the application is successful.
Applications for the Germany scholarship must be submitted online during the application period. The next application period will be from May 3 to May 17, 2023.
The link to the application portal for the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences will be available here during the application period.
The general application portal page is available here.
You can find the link here during the application period.
Students who are already receiving a talent and performance-based scholarship equal to or exceeding an average monthly total of 30 euros cannot receive the Germany scholarship. Furthermore, students enrolled in dual, part-time or integrated occupational degree programs, and students in continued training degree programs are excepted from funding.
There is no legal claim to a scholarship.
