- Kurzbeschreibung
The use of health information systems heavily depends on clinical information and knowledge stored in the system. This is true for enterprise wide information systems but even more for interorganizational information systems. Thus the most challenging part of designing, building and customizing such systems is actually integrating and populating appropriate information and knowledge models. These models require a high degree of domain knowledge and are therefore typically provided by domain experts with a sound background in information management. This module is intended to make students familiar with modelling techniques, existing models and standards and their use in health information systems
- Lehrinhalte
1) Information analysis
2) Evidence based medicine/nursing/practice
3) Quality criteria for information (clinical, research, legal and legislation, quality assurance, national statistics and benchmarking).
4) Expression of clinical items (variables, relationships, values)
5) Applying health care terminologies and coding systems
6) Information modelling (dynamic and static models)
7) Information and knowledge in EPR systems: requirements analysis
8) HL7 v3 messaging
9) HL7 Clinical Document Architecture
10) Care information model development and use
- Lernergebnisse / Kompetenzziele
Wissensverbreiterung
The students have gained a broad overview of state of the art modelling techniques for dynamic and static information and are able to read and interpret the models.
Wissensvertiefung
In particular they understand healthcare specific models such as the RIM of HL7 V3 for representing information and terminology models such as SNOMED for representing clinical knowledge.
They are familiar with state of the art semantic standards for ensuring system interoperability.
Können - instrumentale Kompetenz
The learners know how to design an information model and use tools for implementing the model in digital format.
Können - kommunikative Kompetenz
They have learned how to use the models as a base for communicating with a variety of different professionals in the healthcare area.
Können - systemische Kompetenz
They have acquired a comprehensive understanding of how to employ models to design, build and customize information systems in an interprofessional team consisting of healthcare professionals, computer specialists and managers.
