Kurzbeschreibung

When speaking about eBusiness as applied to the healthcare market two questions arise immediately. Firstly, what is eBusiness? Secondly, why is eBusiness in healthcare different from eBusiness in other sectors? In this module we shall give an overview of the foundations of eBusiness, explain the importance of eBusiness within the healthcare domain and describe the peculiarities of the healthcare market. It is the goal of this module to raise the awareness of and interest in electronically mediated business processes in healthcare, in particular eProcurement and in a wide sense electronic supply chain management.

Wissensverbreiterung
The students have learned how eBusiness changes the economy and the business behaviour of enterprises. They know what functions and processes are touched by eBusiness and what alterations take place.
They know how to distinguish between sell and buy side approaches and became acquainted with electronic marketplaces and their features.
They are familiar with the technologies employed for enabling eBusiness particularly in B2B scenarios.
Wissensvertiefung
They know about the peculiarities of the healthcare market and their implications for eBusiness.
They possess knowledge about supply chains in healthcare and about how to define the chain from the healthcare provider's point of view.
They are familiar with the Supply Chain Model of eBusiness in Healthcare.
Können - instrumentale Kompetenz
The students have learned to search for relevant up-to-date publications in international journals, to read and interpret them. They can summarize the major findings and the conclusions pertaining to technological and economic innovations. They can identify new research questions.
Können - kommunikative Kompetenz
They have learned to acquire specific knowledge in a relatively short time and have demonstrated to present this knowledge to an audience, discuss open questions and defend their position.
Können - systemische Kompetenz
They have learned how to integrate different aspects (economic, technical, concerning the provision of care) of eBusiness and form a complex mental picture. They have acquired analytic skills necessary for understanding innovative developments, their pros and cons, prerequisites and challenges.
