Logistics is an essential driver for the dynamic change and development processes in the economy. Innovative concepts and solutions for digitally controlled value chains and automation are developed in order to simplify the flow of goods and people and make it more efficient. In the context of this module, selected current topics from the field of logistics are dealt with. The module provides an understanding of the role and importance of logistics innovation in business and society. Particular learning outcomes focus on the processes and methods for creatively discovering and developing logistics innovations, as well as the steps involved in creating start-up companies. In addition, current concepts and developments in the logistics start-up environment are discussed in order to understand what makes innovations successful.

The professional subjects of the module depend on current topics of interest, which are related to logistics and Supply Chain Management. Present examples are: 1. Global mega trends like mobility, globality, new technologies, individuality, digitalization, automation and demographic changes etc. 2. New approaches in logistics and supply chain management 3. The importance and role of logistics service providers in today's global commerce 4. Industry 4.0 and the consequences for the logistics industry 5. New concepts in the mobility industry

The students who have successfully studied this module can assess the applicability and acceptance of current developments in logistics from different application areas and develop concepts for their use.

Students who have successfully studied this module are able to explain current developments in logistics to experts and interested parties and to present and communicate self-developed concepts to various interested parties by means of various oral, written and technical forms of communication (discussion contribution, presentation, lecture, Essay).
