Kurzbeschreibung

This module teaches the basics of sustainable land use and facilitates a constructive discourse on intelligent ways to shape landscape change.

Lehr-Lerninhalte

This module is dedicated to

Basic research on:

  • the drivers of landscape change, especially climate change and the loss of species/biodiversity
  • competition for land from renewable energies, agriculture, nature conservation, settlements and industry, infrastructure in the areas of transport, networks, etc.
  • impacts on land and soil, landscape, biodiversity, water balance, population and human health.

Discussion of planning strategies, such as:

  • resilient, balanced utilization concepts,
  • process-based cultural landscape development,
  • climate adaptation concepts, including sponge landscapes,
  • energy landscapes, including post-mining landscapes and agrivoltaics,
  • sustainable forestry as a nucleus of sustainability and, in times of climate change, an increasingly convincing approach to sustainable land use, including for the provision of sustainable building materials (life cycle assessment).
  • biosphere reserves as "real laboratories"

Reflection on:

  • the role of landscape planning,
  • the concept of ecosystem services,
  • the role of human behavior change
  • impact assessments

Wissensverbreiterung

Students expand their knowledge of facts and objectives regarding factors influencing sustainable landscape development. They generate instrumental knowledge about planning strategies.

Wissensvertiefung

Students deepen their understanding of the drivers and conditions of landscape change and how planning can influence its sustainable design.

Wissensverständnis

In addition to knowledge of objectives and facts, students also acquire instrumental transformation knowledge regarding the complex processes of sustainable landscape development.

Nutzung und Transfer

Students develop a planning-analytical understanding of how to deal with complex processes of landscape change and reflect on their findings in the context of planning strategies - using example projects, for instance.

Wissenschaftliche Innovation

Students develop research questions and learn to understand and plan processes of sustainable land use and landscape change through research-based learning.

Kommunikation und Kooperation

Students learn how to communicate processes and planning strategies in text, images and conversation. They develop their own approaches to applying communication methods.

Wissenschaftliches Selbstverständnis / Professionalität

Students reflect on opportunities and limiting factors in the professional and transdisciplinary shaping of landscape change. They understand the variety of possibilities for shaping their professional self-image at occupational interfaces.
