Kurzbeschreibung

Changes in society and climate lead to different forms of crises which negatively affect the food and nutrition system. This course specifically focuses on problems connected with progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 and 2. The course explores the global and regional aspects of nutritional poverty as well as the status of nutrition and food security and discusses these from different perspectives.

The standard form of examination is an oral exam. Any deviation from this will be announced in the first four weeks after the start of lectures.

  • are able to describe potential solutions concerning social problems (e.g. population structure, migration), education and socio-economic structures leading to rising nutrition poverty.
  • are able to reflect on availability, access, use and utilisation, and nutritional status as basics of the nutrition security.

Students are able to contrast and compare different solutions for fighting nutritional poverty and achieving nutrition/ food security on regional, national and international levels.

Nutzung und Transfer

Students choose their own country examples for further research on specific problems concerning nutritional poverty and nutrition security and present their results.

Kommunikation und Kooperation

Students exchange their expertise and experience from different scientific fields and cooperate to identify driving problems of nutritional poverty and nutrition security and discuss solutions.

Students develop a critical approach to scientific perspectives and a self-understanding of responsible cooperation and communication.
