- Kurzbeschreibung
Based on case studies, students develop competences for the sustainable design of crop production practices and cultivation systems. Topics such as crop rotation, soil tillage with a special focus on conservation agriculture in a global context, organic crop production or agroforestry systems will be examined and evaluated with regard to their contribution to sustainability goals.
- Lehr-Lerninhalte
The teaching and learning content of the new module will be added as soon as the professorship "Sustainable Crop Production Systems" is filled.
- Gesamtarbeitsaufwand
Der Arbeitsaufwand für das Modul umfasst insgesamt 150 Stunden (siehe auch "ECTS-Leistungspunkte und Benotung").

- Bemerkung zur Prüfungsart
The standard examination form is a portfolio of a presentation/report and an oral examination (max. 50 points + max. 50 points); deviations from this will be announced in the first four weeks after the start of lectures.
- Prüfungsdauer und Prüfungsumfang
presentation/report: ca. 20-30-minute presentation with 5–10-page written analysis + oral examination ca. 20-30 minutes per student
- Empfohlene Vorkenntnisse
The module assumes basic knowledge of agricultural crop production and its environmental impacts.
- Wissensverbreiterung
Students learn about sustainable crop production practices and their impact on climate change mitigation, biodiversity and nutrition security.
- Wissensvertiefung
Students can evaluate the sustainability of crop production practices based on the methods used. They can assess different methods in terms of their sustainability and evaluate optimization possibilities.
- Wissensverständnis
Students can apply crop production practices and assess their impact. They are able to discuss cultivation practices from a sustainability perspective and argue for possible alternative courses of action.
- Nutzung und Transfer
Students can evaluate various methods of sustainable crop production and optimize cultivation programs. The genetic resources of crop plants are also a focus here.
- Wissenschaftliche Innovation
Students can further develop aspects of sustainable crop production using modern methods. Students can formulate hypotheses on new forms of cultivation from a sustainability perspective and collect data on them.
- Kommunikation und Kooperation
Students can explain sustainable crop production systems and can use technically and ethically correct terminology. The practical orientation of the module provides a good basis for practical cooperation.
- Wissenschaftliches Selbstverständnis / Professionalität
Students can recognize the potential of modern systems of sustainable crop production. They can review their decisions professionally. They are able to scrutinize and critically reflect on cultivation concepts from a sustainability perspective.
