MS Wissenschaft
The exhibition ship
As part of the Science Year 2026, the MS Wissenschaft is touring 36 cities across Germany, Poland, and Austria with the theme “Medicine of the Future.” On board, visitors can explore an interactive exhibition about the medicine of tomorrow.
The exhibition demonstrates how researchers are already developing new ideas for diagnostics, therapy, and healthcare today. Many exhibits invite visitors to participate hands-on. Visitors can test medications on an artificial organ, measure their heartbeat using a camera, or explore a virtual operating room.
The research project PA.H|Lifetime.ai is also represented with its own exhibit. Titled “The Future Sound of Medicine,” it focuses on the health-related demands placed on performing artists and the importance of individually tailored physiotherapeutic treatment. An interactive quiz offers engaging insights and fascinating facts along the way.
How do people stay healthy when they perform at the highest level on stage every day? Our exhibit explores the unique health demands faced by performing artists and highlights why their healthcare requires greater attention.
A video presentation illustrates the parallels between elite sports and the performing arts while also showcasing the diversity of the performing arts sector. The exhibit additionally offers insights into physiotherapy consultations and laboratory research. Using various measurement methods, researchers can analyze the physical strain and movement patterns of performing artists. Several of the scientists involved in the project are also introduced throughout the exhibit.
Two information panels complement the exhibition. One explains the concept of the learning healthcare system and demonstrates how research emerges from clinical practice and subsequently feeds back into patient care. The second provides information about the specific health challenges and requirements of the target group.
An interactive quiz also offers fascinating insights into research, health, and everyday professional life on stage.
When is the best time to visit the floating science center? Here you can view the tour dates and find out when the ship will dock near you.
In three cities, visitors will also have the opportunity to meet some of the scientists involved in the project in person. On June 11, 2026, the project lead, Christoff Zalpour, will be present in Potsdam. On July 14, 2026, Nikolaus Ballenberger will be on site in Cologne, and on August 22, 2026, Paria Samimisabet will be available for questions and discussions in Mainz.
All three are looking forward to answering your questions in person and sharing insights into their research and work.
