On this page, you will find the contact details for the Equal Opportunity Office and the decentralised equal opportunity officers. The Equal Opportunity Office supports Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences in fulfilling its duty to actively promote gender equality.
We support and advise anyone who
- is looking for information on gender equality issues, services and projects.
- has experienced disadvantage, discrimination or harassment, or is unsure whether this has happened to them and would like to discuss the matter.
- has suggestions, requests, ideas or input on how to make the university more gender-equitable.
- are under-represented in their degree programme or professional field and would like guidance with their career development.
Our responsibilities:
- Developing strategies and projects on gender equality-related topics
- Participating in recruitment and appointment processes
- Initiating and further developing family-friendly measures
- Involvement in committees and governing bodies of the university and participating in the university’s structural development planning
- Implementing measures to promote gender equality across all areas of the university
- Providing expert advice and support to all members and affiliates of the university in the planning and implementation of gender equality measures
- Consulting of all women* who teach, conduct research, study and work at the university
- Collaborating with other universities, networks and projects
- Public relations work

Decentralised Equal Opportunities Officers
The faculties, the Institute of Music and the central university services each have their own Decentralised Equal Opportunities Officers. They support the university in fulfilling its equality mandate at a decentralised level and advise their respective organisational units on developing appropriate measures to implement overarching equality objectives. They also serve as easily accessible local points of contact.

Commission for intersectional gender equality (KfiG)
The Commission for intersectional gender equality (KfiG) is a body established to facilitate joint discussion and active participation in shaping the university’s efforts to promote greater gender equality and combat discrimination within the institution. It is elected by the Senate and has the following responsibilities:
- Advising and supporting the work of the university's Equal Opportunities Officer
- Providing advice and recommendations on initiatives to implement the university’s gender equality mandate
- Advising the university on the drafting of gender equality plans
- Monitoring the implementation of the Senate’s guidelines on fulfilling the equality mandate
- Drawing up a list of candidates for the post of the university's Equal Opportunities Officer
How does the KfiG work? The Commission meets approximately three times per semester. The meetings are chaired by the Vice-President for Equal Opportunities and Sustainability. The KfiG comprises three members each from the following groups: (1) professors, (2) academic staff and research assistants, (3) technical and administrative staff, and (4) students.
