Seekcellence

Increasing the proportion of international degree-seeking students

Seekcellence – Increasing the proportion of international degree-seeking students

– positions the university as an internationally attractive destination for study, teaching, research, and knowledge transfer.

The subproject “Increasing the Proportion of International Degree-Seeking Students” supports the strategic goal “New Approaches to Learning and Teaching” within the overall TExAS project.

The goal is to stabilize and increase student enrollment in the long term by significantly raising the proportion of international degree-seeking students. At the same time, academic success, integration, and diversity are to be strengthened, and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences is to be positioned as an attractive international study destination.

Against the backdrop of demographic change, the goal is to double the proportion of international degree-seeking students and increase the graduation rate for bachelor’s programs.

In addition, the entire International Student Life Cycle – from application through studies to the transition into the labor market or into a doctoral program – is to be specifically supported and improved. The subproject thus contributes to the internationalization of studies, research, and knowledge transfer and strengthens the diversity and attractiveness of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.

Measures

The subproject “Increasing the Proportion of International Degree-Seeking Students” implements measures designed to promote internationalization, diversity, and academic success in a sustainable manner. These include:

  • a higher proportion of international degree-seeking students.
  • a higher academic success rate among international degree-seeking students.
  • fewer experiences of discrimination.
  • workshops on diversity.
  • an improved retention rate of international degree-seeking students in the German labor market.

Current project status

To ensure that the number of international degree seeking students continues to grow and that they achieve their goals, the subproject has been gradually establishing support in many key areas of the university since October 1:

  • at the Center for International Students
  • at the Office of Student Affairs
  • in the faculties
  • in Human Resources
  • in University Communications
  • through the establishment of an anti-discrimination office

This is creating better overall study conditions for international students.
