PREPARATORY COLLEGE
PREPARATORY COLLEGE (abbrev. PREP-COLLEGE)
The Prep-College serves as preparation for a degree program at the Institute of Music at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences or at another German music university. It is aimed at prospective students who want to prepare specifically for the entrance examination through main-subject lessons with university teachers.
The Prep-College is offered by the Classical and Jazz programs. The program can only take place if at least three people participate per semester.
Requirements
Admission to the Prep-College requires an assessment of artistic ability. This can take place by taking part in the entrance examinations at the IfM or through an individually arranged examination.
Fees
The fee is €1,140 per semester. It is due at the beginning of the semester or, on request, can be paid in two installments (at the beginning and in the middle of the semester: in the winter semester in mid-September and mid-November, in the summer semester in early March and early May).
Services
Participants receive 15 hours (60 minutes each) of individual lessons with our university teachers per semester.
On request and if capacity allows, courses in music theory/ear training, music history, etc. can be attended at no additional cost. Participation in chamber music ensembles, the orchestra or combos is also possible by arrangement. Credits earned in these courses can be recognized after enrollment in a degree program so as not to extend the duration of study unnecessarily.
International applicants can, by prior arrangement, attend a free language course at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences to a limited extent alongside the Prep-College. Nevertheless, we strongly recommend supplementing this with further intensive German courses to reach the level “B2” in German required for studying at the Institute of Music.
Application deadline
The application/registration deadline each year is September 1 for the winter semester and February 1 for the summer semester. Admission takes place at the start of lectures (see semester dates under Academic organization | Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences) and is valid for one semester. Participation for further semesters is possible by arrangement.
