Establishing research centers
to enhance our reputation and excellence
Three new research centers – driving visibility and excellence
– raise awareness of research topics within the three research fields and create opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and new research ideas.
The subproject “Establishing Research Centers” contributes to achieving the strategic goal of “Strengthening Research” within the overall TExAS project by raising the profile of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences’ research output and making it more structurally visible.
Through the targeted establishment of a total of three research centers, existing strengths are consolidated and new interdisciplinary synergies are created – an important step toward further expanding the university’s position of excellence in the applied sciences.
With the three research centers, distinctive, visible substructures are established within the research fields. They promote interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthen the ability to cooperate both within the university and with external partners.
Through an internal call for proposals, three concepts – each involving at least five participating professorships – will be selected from all submissions and funded over several years. This will create vibrant, collaborative research environments with a strong impact.
Supplementary Measures
In addition to establishing research centers, the subproject implements additional initiatives to sustainably strengthen the university’s research landscape:
- Support for establishing state-wide doctoral centers: to implement the future independent right to award doctoral degrees for universities of applied sciences in Lower Saxony.
- Welcome Center: Establishment of a joint center with the University of Osnabrück to welcome and support international researchers.
These measures complement the structural expansion and promote international exchange as well as the training of early-career researchers.
Measures
Establishing the three research centers will help ensure that research at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences is future-oriented, visible, and internationally competitive. To this end, the university will, among other things
- establish three new research centers.
- secure new external funding.
- submit additional EU grant applications.
- qualify new professorships to grant doctoral degrees.
- secure postdoctoral positions.
- attract new strategic partners.
Current project status
