Anniversary celebration on September 11 and 12, 2026 - Theme and objective

Theme and objective

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Master's program in Management in Nonprofit Organisations, an international conference will be held on 11 September 2026. The topic will be: 'Shrinking Spaces - how resilient is the NPO sector?' The conference language is English.

External participants are welcome!

Theme and objective:
'Shrinking spaces - how resilient is the NPO sector?' This topic will provide a forum for scientific findings, as well as practical workshops and best practices.

In recent years, the nonprofit sector has experienced significant restrictions. 'Shrinking spaces' refers to restrictions on freedom of expression and freedom of choice. Depending on the political system, NPOs are regarded as third agents whose actions are monitored, restricted and even prohibited. The conference will examine various facets of this issue, benefiting from contributions from academia, practitioners and activists.

Conference formats and submission of contributions:
The conference aims to combine current research with practical experience. Traditional keynote speeches will alternate with paper sessions and practical workshops. The conference will begin with three introductory statements from academia, practitioners, and activists. These statements will be accompanied by a panel of commentators and discussed in a plenary session. This will be followed by simultaneous sessions comprising academic papers, practical workshops and sessions with young researchers from the Master's program.
