Promotion of International Talents (FIT) — Advantages for Companies
International students as professionals for companies
Currently, around 500 students with foreign school-leaving qualifications are studying at the university. Many of them are interested in entering the German job market after graduation. To help them succeed and give you the opportunity to hire junior staff from this group, we offer various ways to meet and recruit them.
Why hire international students?
- Motivation and competence:
Foreign students were often among the top students in their class back home. They study in a foreign language and demonstrate a high level of dedication daily. They learn quickly and are characterized by a very high level of motivation and excellent social and communication skills. - (very) good knowledge of German
Approximately 75% of our international students complete their studies in German, so they already have a very good knowledge of the language. This knowledge can be quickly improved in the context of a career. - creative solutions and innovation
International students contribute new perspectives to a company through their diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences. This promotes creative solutions and strengthens a company's ability to compete globally.
About our international students
Approximately 500 international students are currently enrolled at Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences to pursue a degree.
These “international degree-seeking” students come from over 80 countries spanning all continents. The largest groups are from Syria, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Colombia. Currently, the most popular degree programs among international students are ...
- ... in technical fields: Aircraft and Flight Engineering and Dental Technology
- ... in the field of Computer Science: Media Applications and Computer Engineering
In the field of economics, students are most interested in our English courses International Management (Bachelor), International Business and Management (Master) and Management in Nonprofit-Organisations.
For all degree programs taught in German, international applicants must provide proof of C1-level proficiency, except for the Music Education program. For this program, proof of B2-level German proficiency is required.

Our offers
Getting to know and recruiting international students
Are you looking to hire students for internships, final theses, entry-level positions, or working student jobs? You can post your job openings for free on our Praxiko work experience portal.
At our annual International Students meet Business event, you can meet our international students and present your company as a potential employer.
The next event will be held in spring 2026 in collaboration with the WFO and WIGOS. If you are interested, please contact Laetitia Godineau.
For an insight into the last event, take a look at our press release:
During the online application check, you will have 30-minute interviews with international students interested in internships, theses, or starting a career. These interviews provide an opportunity for you to get to know students and allow them to benefit from your experience with application procedures.
The application process, including the interviews, should be carried out by people who are familiar with the recruitment process. Alternatively, you can simulate a job interview with a student and provide feedback afterwards.
If you are interested, please contact Laetitia Godineau.
Do you see yourself employing more international students in the future, but are unsure about the legal framework or onboarding process at your company?
Together with the IQ Netzwerk Niedersachsen, we regularly host informational events onthe Skilled Immigration Act, dealing with diversity in the company (diversity management) and more to support you in this process.
If you are interested, please contact us.
During the excursions, you welcome a group of international students to your company.
The program may include a factory tour, networking reception, or workshop. Your suggestions are welcome!
It is important that the students gain insight into the daily life of a German company. Opportunities that focus on practical experience are particularly helpful, such as touring the plant or offices, meeting employees, learning about entry-level opportunities, and discovering the German work culture.
If you are interested, please contact Laetitia Godineau.
Will you be attending the CHANCE careers fair in November? If so, we would love to visit your booth with a group of motivated international students to help you get to know each other.
If you are interested, please contact Laetitia Godineau.
