Would you like to represent the interests of students and actively participate in shaping university life? Then get involved in a student council, the General Students’ Committee (AStA), or other university committees!
The student councils represent the interests of students in a particular department, organize events, and provide support with questions about studying. The AStA represents the student body university-wide and is involved in areas such as culture and university policy.
You can also have a say in other university committees, such as the Academic Senate or faculty councils, when it comes to important decisions about studying, teaching, and campus life. Here you have the opportunity to directly influence developments at the university and gain valuable insights into decision-making processes.

Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences actively supports the establishment and promotion of student initiatives. Students can apply for up to €500 per semester for their projects.
In addition, there is a social engagement pool that enables all university members to implement their social activities with financial support. This gives all students the opportunity to get involved alongside their studies, gain practical experience, and contribute to the university community and society.

First, think about what is important to you: Do you want to get involved in social issues, apply what you learn in your studies in a practical way, or help shape campus life? Are you interested in teamwork, or are you looking for a more flexible way to get involved?
A good first step is to contact university groups, student councils, or the AStA and simply drop by. Many initiatives welcome new members and offer non-binding information events. The university itself also supports students who want to launch their own projects, including helping them find space and financial support.

Social engagement for everyone
NEO (Sustainable Engagement Osnabrück)
This student initiative organizes projects on the topic of sustainability, such as city tours, workshops, clothing swaps, and lectures.
Theater Clinic
Students of theater education and nursing visit patients at Bonifatius Hospital in Lingen to take their minds off their illness and the hospital and bring them cheer, laughter, distraction, and fun.

LA©H Initiative
The LA©H Initiative has set itself the task of bringing more happiness into the world. That means more lightness, mindfulness, and humor! The focus is on students and their everyday student life.
Terrassenfest
The Terrassenfest is the largest student-organized festival in northern Germany. By helping to organize it, students can gain new experience in event management and help shape the annual festival on the Westerberg campus.
Campus without Borders
Students support refugees and international students. They offer language support, tutorials, workshops, and other activities to facilitate integration at the university.
AG Racism
The Racism Working Group actively promotes a non-discriminatory university culture. Through workshops, discussion groups, and educational work, it raises awareness of everyday and structural racism.
Working Group on Sustainability (AKN)
In the Sustainability Working Group, students, teachers, and staff plan and coordinate activities together. The goal is to make learning, teaching, and working more sustainable.

Ignition Racing Team electric (IRTe)
The IRTe is a student association that has been participating in Formula Student events every year since 2006. Since 2011, the team has been focusing on building electric racing cars and has also been working on autonomous vehicles since 2017.

The PR industry and young professionals are brought closer together. Members can organize events, build networks, or design the association's external communications.
Tierhaltung modern und transparent e.V.
A lack of connection to agriculture often leads to unrealistic ideas about animal husbandry. To counteract this, members aim to provide information and authentic insights into livestock farming, including through public relations work and excursions.
StudenTop e.V.
The student consulting firm offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience in the consulting industry. They develop skills, solve real business challenges, and establish professional contacts.
Wo ist eigentlich Lingen e.V.
WieL is a student online editorial team on the Lingen campus. It provides all the answers you need about the campus and the city on the Ems. The students work on articles for the WieL website and content for social media.
Osnabotics e.V.
Osnabotics is a non-profit, student-driven, inter-institutional community that connects students, makers, and robotics professionals. The network promotes hands-on projects, knowledge sharing, and participation in robotics competitions.
Start a startup
At Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences, you have numerous opportunities to try out your ideas and get started while you are still studying. The StartUp!Lab RISE ( ) (Room for Innovation and Student Empowerment) is your point of contact for innovation, founding, and startups. Here you can get support for the development of ideas, concepts, and prototypes even in the pre-founding phase.
Transfer and Innovation Management (TIM) also offers you many support options in the area of start-ups and entrepreneurship.
Several successful start-up ideas have already been developed at the university. Thanks to the proximity to many partner companies and the lively start-up scene, you will find the perfect conditions for putting your ideas into practice outside of your everyday studies.
With over 30 startups per 100,000 inhabitants, Osnabrück is at the top of Lower Saxony and can call itself the startup capital of the state.
