A stay abroad needs to be well prepared and you certainly have a lot of questions: Where will I live? What does a semester abroad cost? Can I take a German course?

Housing Service
DeThe Housing Service of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences offers furnished rooms for international visiting students. You can find more information about housing, including application, rental costs and deadlines, on the Housing Service website.

Visa and residence permit
Depending on which country you come from, you may need a visa to study in Germany. After your arrival in Osnabrück, we will support you with the necessary administrative procedures. You can find more information on this in our FAQ.

Health insurance
Sufficient health insurance cover is a prerequisite for enrolment at a German university. Our FAQ answers the most frequently asked questions and here you find a detailed instruction on how to provide health insurance.

Living costs and semester contribution
Experience shows that students in Osnabrück/Lingen need around €850 to €950 per month to cover all costs. If you need a visa, please bear in mind that you will need to provide financial proof of around €1000 per month when applying for a visa. You can find more information in our FAQ.

Winter semester: Third week in September to beginning of February
Summer semester: Beginning of March to beginning of July

Buddy program and leisure activities
The International Faculty Office will find you a buddy (a student from a higher semester) before your arrival who will accompany you during your first steps in Osnabrück. With Explore Germany you can also take part in weekend trips at a reduced cost.

German courses
Our intensive language courses take place directly before the start of the semester. The winter language course starts in February (before the summer semester), the summer language course in August (before the winter semester). We also offer German courses during the semester.
