My research focuses on helping companies build AI and robotic systems that comply with the relevant laws and standards, and on doing this with AI that can be trusted. One question I study is whether on-premise, open-weight models can match hosted AI services, so that sensitive data never has to leave the company. Another is how complex regulations and standards can be turned into guidance that engineers can actually follow. My application areas are the functional safety of autonomous machines and data protection when people interact with AI and robots. This work is part of AgrifoodTEF-DE.
