Are you a PhD student, Post-Doc or academic staff member in Osnabrück and looking for other reseachers to exchange ideas and experiences with?
Osnabrück University and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences invite you to join our social events! We meet in changing locations in Osnabrück and offer a variety of leisure activites. Here you can chat with other doctoral candidates in a relaxed atmosphere and exchange ideas about your research and common interests. In addition to international researchers, there are usually also some German PhD student joining our activities.

Upcoming events
It is a tradition to barbeque with our reserachers each summer!
We will provide barbecues and coal. Please bring your own drinks and food (e.g. sausages, vegetables, salat, bread…). Please remember to also bring a plate and cutlery.
The meeting point is at 6 pm in the outdoor area of “Schmied im Hone”: Oldenburger Landstr. 62. You can get there by bus (line X530, bus stop “Auf dem Klee”). When you enter the courtyard, turn right and walk up the stairs (next to the street). You will then find us behind the building. Please also see the aerial photograph below.
It is not necessary to register in advance. We look forward to seeing you! Children are of course also very welcome!

The entrance is in the Koksche Straße and we will be there from 7 pm on.
Just drop by - prior registration is not necessary. You will recognize us by the “Researcher's Roundtable” sign.
Have you been to the Kaiser Wilhelm Monument in Porta Westfalica yet? It is considered one of Germany’s most significant national monuments and offers spectacular views after a hike.
We’ll meet at the Osnabrück main station to take the train to Porta Westfalica together. Meeting point is in front of the train station at 08:55 AM.
The Deutschlandticket/Semesterticket is valid for the train we’ll be taking; please remember to bring it with you if you have one. Otherwise, please purchase a regular ticket in advance.
In Porta Westfalica we will meet other international researchers from Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences and Arts who will join us on the hike. Feel free to bring a picnic, and don’t forget to pack weather-appropriate clothing and suitable (hiking) shoes! We will be back in Osnabrück at around 2:40 PM.
No advance registration is required. We’re looking forward to a wonderful trip and hope for good hiking weather!
General Information
- Participation is free if charge, but everyone pays for his/her own drinks/tickets etc.
- You are welcome to bring your spouse and children to our events, too.
- Our events may be subject to change. To stay up-to-date with our activities, please visit our website on a regular basis or sign up for our newsletter. Our researchers also have a WhatsApp group that you are welcom to join.
- Participants of the Researcher's Roundtable activites are not insured by Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences or the University of Osnabrück. We do not assume any liability in case of an accident in connection with the participation in our events.
- Please note that we may be taking photographs during the events that will be published on this website the section "Hightlights of our past events" without indication of names. Should you wish to be excluded from these photos, please just let us know.
