Brief description

How do actors in projects talk to each other? How do you design teamwork? How do planning professionals contribute both expertise and communication skills? What role does moderation play for groups and how does one moderate? How does the common space become the object, occasion and place of understanding about its sustainable development? How do planners communicate with images and spatial interventions? The students are looking for answers to these fundamental questions about communication in planning projects.

Teaching and learning outcomes

Block A: Moderation methods and the role of the moderator, communication as a programme. Methods of communication and idea generation in planning contexts; event formats.

Block B: Communicating on the move. Communicating with images. Communicating consciously in public. Designing spaces for creative joint work. Using interventions to create a productive communication occasion.

Knowledge Broadening

Students expand and deepen their repertoire of actions in communication situations typical for their profession.

Knowledge deepening

Students have a deeper understanding of communication situations, communication tools and process design competences.

Knowledge Understanding

In dealing analytically and conceptually with complexity and diversity of perspectives in planning processes, students reflect on different types of knowledge.

Application and Transfer

Students develop an understanding of how to deal with complex processes and the actors involved and reflect on their findings by independently transferring them to similar problems.

Academic Innovation

Students learn about systematic and self-reflective evaluation of communication processes as a central method of knowledge generation.

Communication and Cooperation

Students can consciously perceive, shape and control communicative processes. They can communicate together about communication.

Academic Self-Conception / Professionalism

Students are able to express themselves clearly and in a target group-oriented manner in different professional contexts and to arrive at viable solutions in the communication process. They can reflect on their role as professionals in the communication context.
