Students acquire knowledge of the structure, functioning, and challenges of value chains in the food industry. They learn to identify risks along agricultural and food supply chains, assess their impacts, and develop strategies to strengthen resilience.
- Teaching and learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
Analyze value chains from primary agricultural production to the final consumer.
Identify risks and vulnerabilities within food and agricultural systems.
Apply resilience concepts to the food industry.
Develop measures to enhance food security, product quality, and supply chain reliability.
Evaluate the impacts of global crises on agricultural and food markets.
Assess digital and sustainability-oriented approaches for strengthening resilient value chains.
Formulate recommendations for companies and organizations operating in the food sector.

The oral examination as an alternative to the written case analysis may have to be selected by the examiner and in this case announced at the beginning of the course.
- Exam duration and scope
Written case analysis: 15 pages; Development of an integrated management system for an organisation or company in the food industry
oral exam: 30 minuts

Students have a deep and integrated knowledge about food supply chains and can develop strategies for resilient food supply chains.
- Knowledge deepening
Students know the requirements concerning food suppl chains and can analyse the optimisation potential
- Knowledge Understanding
Students could improve there knowledge about food chain chains by self developed systems and can estimate and develope different food supply chains.
- Application and Transfer
The knowledge can be transfered in the food industry and give pratical indsides into comanpies and organisation.
- Academic Innovation
The development of integrated management systems is connected with innovation, which will be more developed together with research. The benefits will be important for the food industry.
- Communication and Cooperation
Communication is an important aspect concerning food supply-chains. The development of case studies will give the possibility to have a cooperation with comanpies or organisation of the food industry.
