Students expand their linguistic competence and take note of orthographic and phonetic ground rules.

Application and Transfer

Students can use general vocabulary, basic grammatical and syntactical structures, and navigate and express themselves in familiar communication situations.

After this course, students are capable of understanding simple, clear sentences that relate to their person, as well as follow conversations that deal with known everyday topics, so long as they are spoken slowly. Additionally, students can introduce themselves and others both verbally and in writing, talk about their own interests, preferences, skills, plans and intentions and hobbies, and inquire about the same from others.

Communication and Cooperation

Students are able of expressing themselves in a simple manner, so long as their speaking partner speaks slowly, clearly, and shows a willingness to help.

They can express themselves with simple words about topics of general interest and exchange the most important information with the assistance of nonverbal signals.

By learning elementary cultural differences of the french language, students develop a better sensibility for the connections between language and culture, which enable better communication.
