Brief description

Working and communicating in international teams and project management are central elements of engineering work. Students get instructions for their practical work.

Teaching and learning outcomes

Both Part 1 and Part 2 continue throughout the entire term and include individual team coaching sessions as well as whole group sessions.

Presentation: midterm and final presentation, 30 minutes each (team)

Learning journal: one page per week

Knowledge Broadening

Students are able to foster both personal and team development, ensuring participants gain the necessary competences to effectively contribute to and lead teams. Moreover, students' abilities in communication, personal development and interpersonal skills are further devleloped, helping them to confidently and effectively navigate diverse professional and personal contexts.

Knowledge deepening

Students can synthesize knowledge from various sources to develop innovative approaches for addressing challenges in team formation, group dynamics and conflict resolution. They can also analyse different communication models, such as 'The four-ear model' and 'Transactional analysis', in order to understand the process of successful communication.

Knowledge Understanding

Students have the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to analyse and interpret real-world scenarios, such as their own team, demonstrating an understanding of how various factors influence team dynamics and performance. They demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of key communication models, including what they are composed of, which processes they go through and how they can be applied in different interpersonal contexts.

Application and Transfer

Students are equipped to transfer knowledge and skills that they have acquired in the course to address real challenges in team issues, demonstrating adaptability and creativity in problem-solving. They are able to adapt communication strategies to effectively engage with diverse groups, demonstrating sensitivity and empathy in international interactions.

Communication and Cooperation

Students can collaborate with diverse individuals and groups to achieve common goals, recognising, respecting and valuing different perspectives and contributions. They know how to communicate ideas and information effectively in interpersonal interactions, demonstrating active listening, clarity and respect for diverse perspectives. Also engaging in constructive dialogue, giving and receiving feedback and fostering mutual learning and growth.

Academic Self-Conception / Professionalism

Students know how to take ownership of their own learning process, actively seeking opportunities for self-improvement and lifelong-learning in the field of team development and team work and in doing so, demonstrating ethical conduct and a commitment to professional growth and skill enhancement.
