Brief description

In this module, participants learn about dedicated and contemporary presentation tools and how to use them appropriately for the target group. They learn to create appealing, focused and lively presentations, both with digital tools and with analogue ones. The content and focus of the implementation differs fundamentally from similarly named modules from other subject areas - here, in addition to the communication of content, the focus is primarily on an appealing design and development of a dramaturgy, less on the development of scientifically correct presentations for conferences or symposia.

Recommended prior knowledge

Successful participation in the 'Portfolio and Orientation' event

Knowledge Broadening

Participants learn the basics of contemporary presentation tools and methods, which are essential for self-marketing and illustrating content to professional audiences or project partners. They learn skills that are not adequately covered in the other design development modules.

Students learn the in-depth use of current presentation tools, the creative use of these and the inclusion of tools that are not originally intended for this context.

They develop creative approaches to preparing presentations and presentation material to suit the target group and to positively surprise the audience.

They learn not only how to create peer-to-peer presentations in direct dialogue, but also how to develop linear presentations without the possibility of intervention by the presenter (film, videos,...).

Knowledge deepening

The students learn an in-depth handling of established and new tools for presentation creation. The content of the course goes far beyond the generally known approaches of typical 'PowerPoint' presentations. Participants learn a creative and disruptive use of analogue and digital tools to produce interesting and engaging presentations with high information content.

Knowledge Understanding

Students reflect on the format 'presentation' in a novel way and recombine the familiar in a completely new way, thus generating innovative content presentations, methods and approaches.

They discuss common forms of presentation in relation to the discipline of design and find new approaches to illustrating and communicating content.

Application and Transfer

After successful attendance of the course, students are able to use established and new tools for presentation production innovatively and creatively. They are able to present and lead presentations in line with the target group. They are able to further develop known methods and to develop completely new approaches for presentations.

Academic Innovation

The students develop innovative and appealing presentations on the basis of known and established tools, recombine what is known and develop new approaches to how design can be presented in an appealing way. They recombine different methods and tools in such a way that they develop something new and make it usable.

Communication and Cooperation

As a result of participating in this module, students will be able to communicate content and contexts effectively - both in written and audiovisual form. They master different communication and presentation techniques, can lead the audience and illustrate content in an appealing way across target groups.

Students are able to professionally present and argue the design they have developed.

Academic Self-Conception / Professionalism

Students gain an overview of tools, methods, approaches and self-understanding of presentations and communication. They improve their professional qualification across disciplines and develop a professional professionalism.

They are enabled to present professionally, communicate and interact flexibly.
