Frequently asked questions about application
An application form must be completed in the application portal. The following documents must also be uploaded here:
- CV
- Record of achievement (for enrolled students, “Master's application module overview” for students in their first semester (summer semester) of a bachelor’s degree program, and, from applicants for a bachelor’s program, verification of university entrance qualification, from applicants to a master’s program, the diploma for their first university degree or a provisional grade overview based on which admission to the master’s degree program is applied for)
- Enrollment certificate for the upcoming winter semester
- Any verifications of past volunteer work performed, if applicable
- Application for funding beyond the standard period of study, if applicable.
For the application to be considered complete, the documents must also be submitted in an anonymized version. If no anonymous version is submitted, such verifications will not be submitted to funding authorities.
No authentication of diplomas and certificates is required.
Verifications of voluntary work or other personal information is not required. The university reserves the right to request original copies as part of random checks. Furthermore, the university reserves the right to review information that is not verified (in particular with respect to volunteer activity) if an application is successful.
With certain e-mail providers (such as web.de or gmx) it may happen that the activation link for the application portal cannot be delivered. If you cannot find a message in your spam folder, please register again using your university e-mail address.
Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences may involve funding organizations in the selection of scholarship recipients. The Scholarship Act stipulates that these organizations may only receive the application materials in anonymized form. The anonymous version of the application documents can therefore be presented to a sponsor during the selection process. In addition to the anonymised documents the applicants upload, the sponsor will also receive an anonymised application form. In particular, the personal data and contact details will be anonymized here.

For this purpose, University Advancement can forward the application documents of the corresponding candidates to the funding entities in anonymized form, if the applicants have consented to this."
In order to ensure objectivity, and under mandatory data protection law requirements, a second, anonymized copy of certificates, records of performance and the CV must be included with all data that could be used to identify the applicant blacked out. This includes, for instance, the applicant’s name, address, date of birth, place of birth and the photo. Two copies of the attachments must be submitted (anonymized and non-anonymized version). The anonymized version can be submitted to a funding organization during the selection process. Funding entities receive a copy of the application form that has been anonymized by University Advancement.
No, a motivation letter is not required. The relevant information will be requested in the online application form.
No, the application process is carried out exclusively online. Delivery by mail is not required. The link to the application portal is available here: https://bewerbung.dstip.de/hs-osnabrueck
Yes. The application form can be converted to English and completed in English. The same is true of the documents to be submitted. For international certificates, a conversion to the German grade system should be enclosed.
Information on university semesters and semesters of study is provided in the enrollment certificate.
To calculate university semesters, all periods of study already completed at a German university are added up (university of applied sciences, private university), regardless of the degree program.
To calculate semesters of study, the semesters the student has completed in their current degree program are added up. Semesters at other universities or in other degree programs (such as in degree programs the student does not complete) are not included.
If you are an applicant to the university, please enter “0.”
If you do not have an enrollment certificate for the winter semester stating your enrollment number at the time of the application, you can complete/send the application in the application portal without this document. It is not necessary to submit verification that you have already paid the semester fee or verification of an enrollment certificate for the current summer semester.
During the application period, you can log into the portal later on and upload the enrollment certificate subsequently.
If you do not receive your enrollment certificate until after the application period, please send it promptly to after you receive it - no further request will be sent for this document.
All applicants will receive an automatic receipt confirmation via email after submitting their applications.
No. Applicants will apply generally for a Deutschlandstipendium at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.

No. The BAföG and Deutschlandstipendium are two complementary programs. Students can generally take advantage of both funding opportunities at the same time without deductions. Likewise, the student's own earnings are not offset against the Deutschlandstipendium.
If the student sabbatical is a study-related semester abroad, this will not affect the Deutschlandstipendium.

“The scholarship will not be paid while the student is taking a leave of absence from their studies. This shall not apply to a leave of absence due to a study-related overseas stay [...] When the student resumes their studies after the leave of absence, the grant period will be extended by the time of the leave of absence at the request of the scholarship recipient.”
