Brief description

This module aims to improve the sustainable consciousness and practical ability of students related to sustainability in event management. It also focuses on the evaluation of sustainable events.

Teaching and learning outcomes

The module consists of 7 parts:

Part 1: The evolution of sustainable events

Part 2: The concept and principles of sustainable events

Part 3: Guidelines and standards for sustainable events

Part 4: Policies and regulations for sustainable events

Part 5: Management cases for sustainable events

Part 6: Research progress and trends in sustainable event management

Part 7: Evaluating sustainable events

The total workload for the module is 150 hours (see also "ECTS credit points and grading").

Remark on the assessment methods

The portfolio examination consists of:

PFP1: a presentation (30%) and a two-hour exam (70%)
PFP2: a written project report (40%) and a written paper (60%)
PFP3: a presentation (30%) and a written paper (70%)

Exam duration and scope

Written examination: in accordance with the valid study regulations

Written paper: approx. 10-15 pages

Presentation: approx. 10-15 minutes

Written project report: approx. 15-20 pages

The requirements are specified in the relevant class.

Students who successfully complete this module are able to recognise the importance of sustainable concepts in event management and understand the opportunity involved for the event industry to act as "agents of change" for the entire society.
