Brief description

The level deepens specialized language training and comprehensively prepares students for study and/or internship abroad or is chosen after a semester abroad.

Teaching and learning outcomes

  • Research, reading, analysis of and discussion on selected health-related topic(s) based on authentic articles from textbooks and the English-language physiotherapy and health-related professional press on corresponding fundamental events;
  • Basic principles and practice in an international and intercultural context;
  • Case studies and simulations on topics related to international and intercultural physiotherapy;
  • in-depth study of topics in presentations, discussions, project work and negotiations; consolidation of physiotherapy terminology;
  • exemplary, in-depth consolidation of grammar, syntax and conversation structure

  • Portfolio exam
Remark on the assessment methods

The portfolio exam is worth 100 points and consists of a one-hour written exam (K1), one presentation (PR) and two oral exams (M). Each element is weighted with 25 points.

Exam duration and scope

Written exam: See valid study regulations
Presentation as part of the portfolio examination: approx. 10-15 minutes
Oral examinations within the scope of the portfolio examinations: see general part of the examination regulations.
The requirements are specified in the respective concrete course.

Recommended prior knowledge

Passed level of English B2 or passed placement test for level B2 or higher or equivalent previous knowledge

Communication and Cooperation

Learners can fully perform the tasks required of them in social and physiotherapy professional practice in English-speaking countries and in English-speaking companies and situations:

  • They can lead and direct in-depth conversations on complex specific physiotherapy topics;
  • They can lead, participate in, steer international negotiations, also in an intercultural context;
  • They have knowledge of the health care structure as well as the cultural characteristics of selected English-speaking countries.
