The level includes technical language training and prepares students for studies and internships abroad. The technical language training also serves the independent processing of nursing literature.

• Reading, analysis, and discussion of selected articles from textbooks and the English-language professional press;
• Terminology of nursing and nursing science;
• Case studies related to nursing and the science of nursing;
• Oral and written text reproduction;
• Discussions, short presentations;
• Repetition of grammatical and idiomatic structures in a professional context
• Practice of an interview in the context of an internship abroad.

The total workload for the module is 150 hours (see also "ECTS credit points and grading").

The hours used in the Lecturer based learning Learning field are instructional hours.

• Portfolio exam

The portfolio exam is worth 100 points and consists of a 30-minute written exam (K30), a term paper (HA), a presentation (PR), and an oral exam (M). Each element is weighted with 25 points.

Written exam: See valid study regulations

Term paper as part of the portfolio examination: approx. 10-15 pages

Presentation in the context of the portfolio examination: approx. 8-12 minutes.

The requirements will be specified in the respective concrete course.

Successful completion of module B1 or equivalent previous knowledge

Students will have a broad and integrated understanding of technical language.

Students will be able to explain the structure and content of scientific texts in the foreign language.

Students will be able to identify and name the differences in health care systems.

The students critically analyze nursing science texts.

Students can confidently engage in professional contexts in the foreign language.
