- Brief description
The influence of the European Union on law, policy, economy and the financial economy of the 28 member states has an increasing impact on the economy and policy of the member states after the amendmants of the SEA and the treaties of Maastricht, Amsterdam, Nizza and Lisbon. After an introduction about the idea of the European integration and its historical development as well as the European institutions and the budget the module “European law” deals with the basics of the European legal system , the four fundamental freedoms of the internal market (free movement of goods, of persons, of services and of capital) and the competences of the UnionUnion and their implementation in the different policies.

In the exam, a legal case is to be resolved from the European Law.
- Exam duration and scope
Written paper: approx. 10-15 pages
Written examination: in accordance with the applicable study regulations
Report: Presentation: approx. 20-30 minutes with a written report of approx. 5-10 pages.The requirements are specified in the relevant class.

Successful participation in the module“Business Constitutional Law” or “State and Constitutional Law”.
- Knowledge Broadening
Students who have successfully studied this module have broad and integrated knowledge about the system of the European Union. They understand how the European law influences the acting of commercial companies, the state which is acting in the economic area, the municipalities and other public administrations.
- Knowledge deepening
They can understand and apply the law of the European Union as well as the fundamental freedoms of the internal market in legal terms and have knowledge about the European competition and company law as well as legal questions concerning social policy, consumer protection policy and environmental policy.
- Communication and Cooperation
In their future vocational field they are able to communicate these questions towards staff members and supervisors.
