Brief description

The transfer of scientific knowledge and methods into practice is the subject of this module. Independent scientific work with analytical equipment is to be developed within the framework of applied project tasks. Special focus is placed on the independent further development of methods.

Teaching and learning outcomes

Working on an analytical problem for metals or ceramics in a team. The questions are selected by the lecturers at the end of each semester. These are guided experiments on a selected method area. The evaluation takes place between the blocks and is intended to guide the further planning of the experiments. The focus is on the variation of method parameters and the statement of the respective measurement results.

Overall workload

The total workload for the module is 150 hours (see also "ECTS credit points and grading").

Recommended prior knowledge

The module assumes in-depth knowledge of different analytical methods for polymers from the previous Master's modules.

Knowledge Broadening

Students know how to work on an analytical task in a methodically structured way within a given time frame and can place the results in an application-related context.

Knowledge deepening

Students are able to familiarize themselves with a new method within a limited period of time and to independently deepen their knowledge in a specific area on a scientific basis.

Knowledge Understanding

Students can evaluate characterization methods and compare them with other methods.

Academic Innovation

Students can select methods adapted to a specific problem and optimize them in a targeted manner.

Communication and Cooperation

Students are able to discuss analytical solutions with representatives of different academic and non-academic fields of activity in a relevant and subject-related manner.

Academic Self-Conception / Professionalism

Students will be able to reflect on their own established methods against the background of legal, economic and ecological framework conditions and compare them with other alternative solutions.
