In the life sciences, many phenomena are described using mathematical models. The mathematical methods relevant to bioprocess engineering are presented and discussed. The focus is on the application of these methods, which are illustrated and practised using examples and exercises. Solutions are generally to be developed without the use of embedded systems.

• Die Studierenden können die Differenzialrechnung für Funktionen mehrerer Veränderlicher anwenden.
• Die Studierenden sind in der Lage lineare Differenzialgleichungen 1. und 2. Ordnung zu lösen.
• Die Studierenden sind in der Lage Funktionen in Reihen zu entwickeln und einfach Näherungen durchzuführen.
• Die Studierenden können Gleichungssysteme auf Lösbarkeit prüfen und mit unterschiedlichen Verfahren lösen.
