The development of outdoor facilities is a central task in open space planning. The design and construction of paths and traffic areas is largely determined by the utilisation requirements and environmental conditions, in particular the properties of the subsoil.
The module provides knowledge about the properties and requirements of and for path construction materials and the subsoil as well as the technical and constructive implementation. Key regulations such as the RStO and ZTV-Wegebau as well as relevant FLL standards and guidelines are considered and applied.Together with the functional rainwater drainage of path surfaces, rainwater management on the entire property plays a decisive role. Due to the increase in heavy rainfall events and periods of heat, rainwater retention measures are becoming increasingly important. The various options for rainwater management, the dimensioning and construction of rainwater drainage as well as infiltration and retention systems are presented and considered as integrated planning in open spaces.
The basics of technical drawing and plan creation are also taught. The realisation of a road construction plan including surfacing concept and drainage planning is practised and implemented in drawings using an exercise task as an example.
