Brief description

In addition to technical requirements (consumption, safety, ...), design plays a major role in the decision to purchase an automobile. Especially in body development and interiors, it is important to translate the design into technical surfaces and a feasible construction. This often represents a compromise because not all design ideas are fundamentally technically feasible. It is therefore becoming increasingly important for engineers to know basic approaches to vehicle design in order to be able to assess the possibilities of technical implementation.

Teaching and learning outcomes

1. Introduction to vehicle design

2. Vehicle design: requirements and tasks

3. How does a designer work?

4. Development tools, tools, aids and their possible uses
