Brief description

In the interest of teaching the course content in a practical manner, the use and provision of thermal energy are covered in detail, and the processes for using heat at different temperature levels are discussed in depth. The use and generation of heat to increase efficiency also plays a major role in this module. Building on knowledge of heat transfer, the fundamentals of transient processes are discussed here. The transport of media between heat sources and sinks, as well as the storage of thermal energy, form an essential basis of the module. Upon completion of the module, students will be familiar with the possible uses of thermal energy and will be able to analyze and design transport systems.

Teaching and learning outcomes

1. Transient heat transfer
2. Sector coupling in heating and cooling technology
3. Planning and simulation for energy and heat supply concepts
4. Power to X and hydrogen applications

Overall workload

The total workload for the module is 150 hours (see also "ECTS credit points and grading").
