The Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences is strong thanks to a solid funding of research. Central funding bodies are the Federal Government, the State and the EU, but also regional and national companies.
In addition to the external research funding, the university relies heavily on internal support of the researchers. This includes the existing infrastructure (website only available in German) at the university which allows the scientists and researchers to carry out research projects.
The university also supports the pursuit of research tasks with the following funding measures
- Reduction of the teaching load
- Granting of a research semester
- Allocation of research funds from the research pool of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences
- Extensive and individual consultation on all aspects of the initiation of research and support for the submission of the application with national and European (website only available in German) research projects.
Since 2012, the university has also established five internal research focuses which are funded by internal resources and strengthen interdisciplinary work as well as raise the profile of the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences. The promotion of young scientific talent plays an important role in the internal research focuses.
The internal funding of research requires that the projects match the overall concept and the research environment of the university or of the relevant faculty. The research projects are based on suggestions from the practice or ongoing research where the project ideas can come from individuals or groups.
Within the university administration, the Vice President is responsible for questions of research promotion for Research, Transfer & Young Talent Promotion.
